As a multifaceted dancer, my style reflects the diverse culture I grew up in. I love Latin dances such as salsa and bachata, and I grew up twirling to merengue. However, I feel the most powerful when dancing to hip-hop, especially choreography that blends both feminine and masculine essence. For me, dance is more than movement; it’s a pathway to understanding culture and a way to communicate my willingness to connect with others. It inspires me to show how deeply interconnected we all are.
I came out of the womb crumping to Lose Control by Missy Elliott and Ciara, so meeting Ciara- the woman I admired on the screen, would be surreal. Growing up my mom made me learn 1, 2 Step by Ciara until I mastered the choreography. Ciara meant so much to me; as a skinny girl who loved to dance she inspired me to embrace by body and dance with confidence. Being in her presence and witnessing her creative process unfold, would be an experience I’d take to my next life.
Outside of being a dancer, I am an entrepreneur striving to bring inclusivity into the beauty industry here in Colorado. Here’s how $20,000.00 would advance my mission: $2,500 — professional makeup kit allowing me to service women of color looking for an inclusive MUA. $5,000 — Towards renting a salon space. $4,000 — continue my esthetic education to build more skills. $150.00 — Dance Membership. $4,000.00 — reopen my esthetic/skincare business. $3000.00 &
The search is on for eight dancers to be flown to a live judged event in Phoenix, AZ, showcasing their skills to Ciara and her choreographer, Jamaica Craft. One will be chosen to appear in her upcoming music video and win $20,000!
