Amongst being classically trained, I owe it to being trained in salsa and bachata for my love for hip-hop. Being able to have my latin fluid flair combined with hip-hop movements provides a fusion within my dancing - especially during improv before or at the end of a dance combo. At the end of the day, hip-hop has my heart.
I have always been the underdog in dance. I was always told I don’t fit into the box the teams wanted. I have worked so hard to be where I am despite living in a traditional asian household that undermines me and disowns me for wanting dance to be one of my career paths that I pursue. If I am able to have this opportunity to appear in Ciara’s music video or even make it to the live competition - it would show everyone that doubted me that I made it and that I showed myself I made it
Due to a challenging upbringing with parents that didn’t want to support me in college, I worked 3 jobs during college and it wasn’t enough to cover my tuition and I have student debt. I am currently working full-time as a JR Publicist although I unfortunately am living paycheck to paycheck. One year ago I had a retina detachment that put my pro dance career to a pause. I had 8 surgeries that costed thousands. I would use the money to pay my debt so I can start saving money.
