I began training 14+ years ago in a variety of styles— contemporary, lyrical, hip-hop, tap, jazz, ballet, and more. From a young age I struggled immensely with the verbalization of my thoughts, so finding dance as a medium of communication was life changing for me. When I dance, I try to translate my inner dialogue into movement for others to understand— positive and negative emotions.
I have always wanted a chance to show people the energy and passion I have to offer with dance. While live performances are always enjoyable, exploring a new medium of sharing my love of dance (like music videos), has always been a goal of mine! This could not only jumpstart my long awaited professional dancing career but also make some amazing networking opportunities for me. Dancers and have always been the group of people I feel the most seen with but I have always lacked this community.
While I would love to give a large portion of this money to my family (and new nephew) that has done so much for not only my dance career but to support me in all endeavors, I would also love to support my local public schools in quality of life aspects. As a highschool teacher I see the impact that funding can truly make on a student/teachers experience at a school. My belief is that schools are what set our future generations up for success, but a good foundation is necessary.
The search is on for eight dancers to be flown to a live judged event in Phoenix, AZ, showcasing their skills to Ciara and her choreographer, Jamaica Craft. One will be chosen to appear in her upcoming music video and win $20,000!
