Help me compete to become the Dance Icon and appear in a music video with Ciara and win $20,000!
My dance inspirations are Judith Jamison and Eartha Kitt. They're two very different performers, but I'm their fusion in style and life experience. My foundation in dance is liturgical in church but I've always wanted more. I'm heavily influenced by my training in HBCU majorette and flag line, ballroom, and Latin dancing. When I choreograph my routines, I'm always looking to meet my next move in an unexpected way. I aim to entertain, and I can't wait to show you more.
Being in a Ciara music video will help drive home the point I preach to my students that anything you chase, you can attain it. Since picking up my color guard team at my local high school, I've made them my priority. I've stopped seeking opportunities that would "take me away from them." I champion my ability to lead by example, and I want them to see me put myself first and continue to achieve my personal goals outside of being their coach.
I promised myself that I would be a debt-free full-time performer. I'd use the $20,000 to pay off my student loans and help send more of my students to summer high school band camps to expose them to campus life. Last summer, I was able to help pay half of the tuition for two of my girls to attend the same camp I attended 14 years ago, which aided in my attending and joining the dance team at my alma mater, Hampton University. I'd love to continue this venture. I'm ready to make it happen!
The search is on for eight dancers to be flown to a live judged event in Phoenix, AZ, showcasing their skills to Ciara and her choreographer, Jamaica Craft. One will be chosen to appear in her upcoming music video and win $20,000!
