Thank you for supporting me in this competition. Your donations and participation will benefit the Why Not You Foundation in their mission to fight poverty through education initiatives that empower youth to lead with a why not you attitude.
My dance style incorporates uniqueness, intentionality, and personality, with a sense of delicacy, technique and poise. I definitely see myself and have been inspired by Debbie Allen, Ashley Everett, Janet Jackson, Kimmie G, and of course Ciara. My use of classical ballet and modern/contemporary technique with the unique personality and the counteracting softness and heavy hitting movements allows my style to be one that stands out in a crowd.
This would be impactful by not only creating a strong foundation of mentorship and networking from the amazing people I would connect with on and off the screen to further my dance career, but also allowing my name to be a stand out in order to push my personal passion of being a positive inspiration, particularly to youth in underrepresented communities. This music video would reinforce my abilities and inspiring me to continue to aim higher.
With $20,000, and as a student at Spelman College, my priority first would be to use the money to help pay for my experience at Spelman. Graduating from Spelman would be a huge accomplishment for me and I am excited to see where my knowledge takes me. Any money left, I would prioritize for the development and security of my future and my family's future. I hope that this $20,000 is not only a prize but a stepping stone to success!
