Thank you for supporting me in this competition. Your donations and participation will benefit the Why Not You Foundation in their mission to fight poverty through education initiatives that empower youth to lead with a why not you attitude.
My dance inspirations vary wildly. It all started with Shirley Temple. I danced with the cast of Fame at 5. I’ve danced with Savion Glover. I take classes in hip hop, jazz funk and contemporary at Millennium in Los Angeles. My current and biggest dance inspiration is my son, who has danced with Janet Jackson, Harry Styles and Pink.
Being in Ciara’s music video would impact my life in so many ways. It would help me realize the dreams I had of being a professional dancer, which I had to put on pause to have my family quite young. It would help me prove to my kids (and myself!) that it’s never too late to go after what you want, and it would prove right the people in my life who have always been supportive and knew I had it in me all along.
I would use the money for more dance training, a wardrobe that fits after a recent 40 pound weight loss, and maybe a quick trip to Japan for more dance classes!
