My dance style is strong but graceful. I take inspiration from jazz, contemporary, street techniques, and acrobatic styles in my movement. When I am dancing, a sense of confidence and power takes over me that I can express through performing. It is almost like an alter ego in a way. The timid, more anxious side of myself completely disappears and I lose myself fully in the music.
Being in Ciara's music video would be the biggest honor. My whole life, I watched music videos of Ciara and other artists and dreamed about being one of the dancers in front of the camera. I would learn the choreography and practice it for days on end. Having the chance to be included in such a special artist's video would prove to me that almost two decades of hard work and sacrifice were worth it. My childhood dreams would become a reality.
If I won the $20,000 prize, I would put it towards opening my own business someday. I have always wanted to open my own training program to help artists from my hometown make their dreams a reality, just like I am striving to do. I want to help the next generation of dancers go after the things they desire most instead of shying away because of how uncertain a career in the arts can be.
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Entrepreneur of Impact, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
