My dance style is a mix of hip-hop and jazz, shaped by personal experiences. Growing up as an only child with an incarcerated father, I struggled to express my emotions. Dance became my outlet—a way to channel my feelings and release pain. Hip-hop, with its raw energy, allowed me to express anger and frustration, while jazz added fluidity and elegance, helping me convey grace and control. Together, they formed my unique style, energetic yet graceful.
My life would be profoundly impacted by the opportunity to pursue dance in a more meaningful way. It would provide me with a whole new experience, one that allows me to explore the full potential of my craft. Dance has always been a way for me to express emotions and connect with others, but having the chance to take it further would show me where my passion can truly take me.
As the founder of a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting at-risk minority young women, I focus on mental health, education, and anti-bullying through the outlet of step and dance. Our mission is to empower these young ladies, helping them build confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging. A $20,000 donation would make a significant impact, allowing us to expand our efforts and provide essential resources to these young women.
The search is on for eight dancers to be flown to a live judged event in Phoenix, AZ, showcasing their skills to Ciara and her choreographer, Jamaica Craft. One will be chosen to appear in her upcoming music video and win $20,000!
