My inspiration is, of course, Ciara. Growing up she was one of the first female entertainers I’ve seen on TV. I was instantly captivated by her confidence and how she was able to tell a story through movement and music. As a young Black girl to have someone on the screen who looked like me, accel in the entertainment industry, inspired me to pursue dance where I train in all styles. Ciara was the standard in my household where my siblings and I would all gather around to learn her choreo.
Being in Ciara's music video would have a profound impact on my life. It would give me the opportunity to show my community that Nigerian-American women can succeed in the arts. I want to inspire the younger generations, demonstrating that with hard work, dedication, and staying true to your faith, dreams are always within reach. This platform would allow me to showcase my talent and help pave the way for others who follow.
With the $20,000, I would invest in advancing my education to become a Dance Therapist. I recently earned my Bachelor of Science in Applied Psychology and plan to pursue a Master's in Mental Health Counseling. My goal is to eventually open my own practice, where I can provide mental health support to minority communities through both traditional therapy and Dance Therapy.
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Entrepreneur of Impact, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
