My interests have always been creating experiences for representation. As time passed, the arts opened the doors for me to have a platform. I grew up in a Latino community in Wilmington, DE with minimal exposure to training but within reach of nearby larger cities. (DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia, NYC, etc.) These cities have inspired my movement along with my own upbringing with Capoeira, Reggaeton, Latin, and Caribbean genres and styles.
Being in Ciara's music video would impact me in a way to continue showing that in this stage of my life, I am still capable of delivering greatness and quality. For my community and the many students I teach/work with, my presence in a project like this is a moment of representation and inspiration. I have been blessed with great opportunities but there are certainly new heights to reach. I believe this would be confirmation that my life as a dancer is far from over!
The $20,000 would be tremendous in funding artistic visions. I am in the process of opening a small studio space in my hometown to bring back and share the things I have learned and experienced through the arts. The space is a repurposed horse stable that is under renovation and equipped with a functioning outdoor theater! As I begin here, I would love to have the means to properly equip this unique space and bring it to life for dance and programs that have not existed here.
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Entrepreneur of Impact, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
