Gidnasty’s dance style reflects the vibrant culture of Oakland and the resilience of his Nigerian heritage. Introduced to the art form by the Southeast Asian community at Bret Harte Middle School, he draws inspiration from local dance teachers and legendary figures across the Bay Area. His unique style honors the legacy of mentors, both past and present, blending innovation with tradition. Gidnasty’s art embodies a powerful connection to his environment and cultural roots.
Being in a music video with Ciara would be a transformative experience that could change the trajectory of my life. Growing up, her work, especially “1, 2 Step,” shaped my understanding of visual expression in dance. This opportunity would not only validate my journey but provide the platform I need to elevate my dance company and open a studio. The exposure and connections would help me create a better future for my children, solidifying my commitment to my craft and dreams.
My life underwent a profound transformation following the passing of my father in 2020. In the wake of his death, I assumed responsibility for his $45,000 debt, which I have since reduced to $25,000.With the resources I hope to gain, I aim to release my personal struggles, establish a trust fund for my children, and elevate my dance company to new heights. My ultimate goal is to open a dance studio by next summer, providing a space where the next generation can learn, create, and express.
