Dance is my first love, my therapy for 11 yrs. I am extremely passionate for dance, my way of communicating and expressing without words.
Thank you for supporting me in this competition. Your donations and participation will benefit the Why Not You Foundation in their mission to fight poverty through education initiatives that empower youth to lead with a why not you attitude.
I have studied in ballet, lyrical, jazz and Hip hop. Hip Hop is my true love and I’ve specialized in it since. There is something so therapeutic and freeing about moving your body to lyrics that hit your soul. I’ve had a difficult life and I credit dance for saving me spiritually and mentally. It taught me to connect with myself and breathed life back into me. My body moves naturally to hip hop, it’s not just choreography to follow. I embrace each step and make it my own.
I’m not really sure I could put it into words. I have a special relationship with dance that can’t really be classified. I feel like it would be the ultimate reward to myself not just for my talent but my ability to push through. To connect with dance at a young vulnerable age and let it in after all the pain. Being in Ciara’s video would feel like hip hop would be getting its biggest acknowledgment for getting me where I am today. A public show of gratitude to the art of dance
I would use it towards next year’s college tuition. I am currently a freshman at Penn state and after scholarships and grants I still had to take out a major loan to cover the rest of the year. With that 20,000 it would cut a large part out of what I would need to borrow next year and relieve pressure and worry from me and most importantly my mom who worked so hard to help get to my dream school and is working even harder to help get me to stay. Dance and school are my foundation.
