I find a different pocket within each song, and I tell the story of that song with my movements. My dance style is expressive. I use dance to communicate my inner most feelings when words aren’t enough. I find my greatest inspiration to come from Chris Brown. He is the epitome of what I see in myself as a dancer and what I want to grow to be. The way he isolates his body and hits certain beats really inspires me. Jojo Gomez is another inspiration because of her clean, sharp movements.
Being in Ciara’s music video would give me the confidence that I am in the right field. I didn’t finish college because my passion wasn’t there. I realized that dance is all I want to do and it’s been hard trying to regain my roots of training but they never left. I’ve been dancing my whole life and I realized, in my adult life, that dance is what I was made for. This opportunity would be a dream come true and a real testament that this is the career I was born for.
If I were blessed to have won the $20,000, I would give back to my church community, and of course give back to my family because they’ve helped me in ways I can’t even begin to describe. Furthermore, I would help my high school dance team and outside studio in Chicago because they are a big reason why I am who I am today. I would really just give back to those who poured into me when I needed them most.
