My dance style is Hiphop/ West African influenced. I grew up dancing to Guinea and Mali movements, which has impacted the love I have for being grounded and connected to my roots. Hiphop has always been inside of me, specifically house which I just got more engaged with over the past 3 1/2 years that I’ve been at The University of Texas.
Being in Ciara’s music video would impact me tremendously because I want to prove to myself that this is the career for me. This opportunity would not only help with networking, but my skill development as well! This will be my first professional gig and it would help me show my younger sister that you can do anything you put your mind to! I’ve been told that it’s hard to make it in this industry, but I want to prove to myself that it’s worth it and I am a strong woman!
First and foremost, I’d give some to my father as he’s helped me get through college! My father has always had my back even in the darkest times and he’s always supported me being an artist. Secondly, I’d use some to jumpstart my career as well as help with my post-college life. Lastly, I’d use the rest to give back to my community as there’s always people in need.
The search is on for eight dancers to be flown to a live judged event in Phoenix, AZ, showcasing their skills to Ciara and her choreographer, Jamaica Craft. One will be chosen to appear in her upcoming music video and win $20,000!
