My dance style is very commercial. I like incorporating street jazz with hip hop elements. I take a lot of inspiration from competition dance teams, films, and music videos. I love appealing to mainstream audiences. My number one inspiration as a dancer and choreographer is Parris Goebel. Queer history and queer iconography in pop culture also inspire me since dance has always been a source of joy and therapy for our community.
Being in Ciara’s music video would impact my life because I want to eventually be represented by an agent. I would be learning from the best of the best in the dance industry and this experience would open me up to other opportunities, give me exposure, and bring more people to my dance classes. I think it would also validate me by reminding me that I’m going in the right direction. I had only been dancing for 2 years when I began choreographing to “Goodies” by Ciara.
With the $20,000 I would buy lights for the dance classes I teach to make them look more professional when we film. I also want to invest in film equipment, such as cameras, gimbals, and apps, to create some music videos of my own. I am a director that loves creating productions. I would also invest in fashion materials to create my next fashion line. I want to establish my name and signature as an art director in dance, fashion, and film. I have many talents that I know how to combine and grow.
