I have been a competitive dancer for 9+ years. You’ll see me typically dance lyrical, I love contemporary, but I have found that I have grown a lot in hip hop! I love the attitude and the movements and of course the music! I recently started choreographing for myself for competitions and my coach has been letting me start doing some coach in training tasks. Dance is my life! I love picking pieces that mean something to me. There is feeling behind it.
I am not the average dancer. I know you’ll read that a lot. But I’m not. I have had struggles with my mental health, size, and injuries causing set backs. Most people look at me and dont see a typical dancer. This is the mold I want to break for all dancers. I constantly look for ways to help others through struggles I have had. I show by example. This would help me propel that. This would show more people like myself that they can do things people don’t think they stereotypica
I have three things in mind. Help pay for scholarships for kids who want to try dance who may not be able to afford it. Help with the materials I gather for kids in children’s homes and foster care (I do this already but this would help more) such as clothing, school supplies, and other things that may make them feel a bit more comfortable and give them some normalcy. And finally, I would put some towards college to continue learning dance.
