My dance style was initially inspired by Kida the Great. The way he moves so effortlessly and controlled at the same time is something I try to achieve in my way of dancing. His ear for musicality is something I've always been working towards and I do my best to add my own bits of personality to it. I grew up mostly around afrobeats, but it was at a time where it wasn't appreciated or recognized as much as today. My dance style incorporates a lot of afrobeats grooves as a result.
It would give me a chance to understand what the world of dancers looks like beyond the screen of my phone. I've always admired the scene but never had the chance to be exposed to it. Furthermore, it would also show me what it takes to consistently show up in these spaces, and expose me to the level of work ethic actually required to be part of this world on a regular basis. The exposure with this kind of opportunity would be amazing as I tend to admire the spotlight, but fear stepping into it.
This money would allow me to develop my skills in dancing. I'm still very far from where I would like to be, and I've always wanted to find a way to fund my dreams of becoming a professional dancer, however it is way more costly than I expected it to be! I would use this money to take valuable classes that would push my boundaries in dance and learn from the best. I would save for my family, and make sure that whatever is left can be used to secure my financial future to whatever extent it can.
