I dance from passion first, then practice. Every move is a natural tribute to God and my ancestors who ignite the fire in me!
Thank you for supporting me in this competition. Your donations and participation will benefit the Why Not You Foundation in their mission to fight poverty through education initiatives that empower youth to lead with a why not you attitude.
Improv is my essence; a vibrant fusion of ballet, lyrical, jazz, hip-hop, cultural, contemporary, and majorette styles. Inspired by my sister, who used dance as therapy, I embrace movement to express emotions beyond words. The styles of Katherine Dunham, Paula Abdul, Debbie Allen, Ciara, Jaquel Knight, the iconic dance scenes in "The Wiz" (1978), and countless HS & HBCU majorettes have shaped my style. Each step I take honors these inspirations, weaving them into my personal dance
Participating in a Ciara music video would be like picking the fruit off a tree just to plant the seeds after enjoying it. Pairing my intensity with Jamaica Craft's professional practice would catapult my reach in inspiring folks of all ages and stages to put on for the most authentic representation of themselves. This opportunity would enrich the stick-to-it theme of all my stories, open doors to new connections and experiences, and allow me to serve as a role model for dance as therapy.
With the money, I'd start by investing into BUILD ONE BUILD SOME BUILD ALL, my nonprofit organization. At BOBSBA, we empower individuals in underserved communities to build on their inner gifts to make a positive impact in the world around them. Through programs & projects in social-emotional learning, the arts, STEM, & trade education, we support participants with excavating & employing their unique talents for the greater good. I'd also take kids to see a dance ensemble!
