At the age of 2, my love for dance began. My hometown didn’t have an academy, but I was able to train in gymnastics, excelling beyond my peers. From elementary to high school, I participated in line dancing, baton, ballroom, and hip-hop. I also did majorette dancing for the band, which led me to become an instructor at Cupcake Dance Studio, where I learned ballet to teach younger girls. I’ve performed in parades, shows, and competitions statewide, which led me to coach my own teams.
As a little girl, I knew my dance talent was special, but I didn't know how to share it with the world. In 2004, I saw Ciara's ‘Goodies’ video and instantly knew my dream—to dance in music videos. Ciara looked like me, with a style and talent I admired, inspiring a dream I've chased for 20 years. Being in this video would fulfill my childhood dream and show others from a small town that perseverance pays off. If I accomplish nothing else, this alone will make me proud.
I have a young cousin who shares my love for dance, making her the second in our family with this rare talent. Before her passing in 2022, my older cousin urged me to teach again and mentor her granddaughter, and I've always wanted to honor that. With this money, I would open a dance academy in my hometown for other talented dancers. I want to give young girls what I didn’t have—a space to grow, learn, and pursue their dance dreams.
