My dance style I would say is more modern/ contemporary. My inspirations come from storytelling, maybe it is an event going on in the world, or my personal life. It can also be an emotion that I have been feeling at the time. It can also be from auditory stimuli which may result from lyrics in a song or a poem. Using movement to express myself is truly a form of therapy and a passion that I try to instill in my high school students day in and day out!
Being in this video would mean to me that just no commercial dancers from the popular hubs can be in music videos. It would show that an almost 30-year-old high school dance teacher still "has it." I think it would show that at my age you can still accomplish dreams and goals and perform at a professional level even if you have a typical 9-5 job. It would show my students that having a passion and working towards it is still attainable not matter your age.
20,000 dollars is a lot of money. I think I would first take part of it to help pay off the rest of dance education degree that I am working towards currently. This degree will help me keep my job and show that I am certified to teach high school kids in a public school setting. The next would be to invest in the program that I am currently leading, I would update the studio that I work in, I would also like to invest and create an adaptive dance studio in my hometown for those with disabilities
