Making my dance dreams come true has always been my inspiration. My mother is my best supporter. Not coming from much, she used to clean the dance studios because she could not afford the monthly tuition. I will never forget the sacrifices she made to keep me dancing. Always keeping God first is the reason my dance style is about the freedom and joy dance brings and remembering the selflessness of the art. Connecting through movement is a skill that’s an essential development for many.
Being in Ciara’s music video would be the biggest blessing to ever happen in my dance career. Allowing other people that look like me, see me in her video is important. Knowing that I am making an impact on others by showing them that they can be seen too. Growing up, I watched Ciara’s music videos and to have an opportunity to work along side her is a dream come true. Her energy and charisma are unmatched. Ciara is an icon. Her positivity shines through the dance community.
With $20,000, I would develop a meaningful and impactful initiative well-structured plan that will focus on dance and community engagement. I would establish a dance studio space, offering free and discounted dance programs. Organize Community Events celebrating diversity. Continuing to build partnerships and outreach while supporting other organizations. Budgeting the marketing and online presence.
The search is on for eight dancers to be flown to a live judged event in Phoenix, AZ, showcasing their skills to Ciara and her choreographer, Jamaica Craft. One will be chosen to appear in her upcoming music video and win $20,000!
