Help me compete to become the Dance Icon and appear in a music video with Ciara and win $20,000!
I grew up learning Indian Classical Dance (Bharatanatyam). It’s how I was able to connect with my South Indian roots. As a child of immigrants, it was hard to feel close to my Indian heritage, but learning Bharatanatyam helped me learn more about the culture. I then grew very fond of Bollywood and Hip Hop, both of which I am self-taught in. I grew up playing Just Dance and watching Kyle Hanagami on YouTube. I now attend hip hop workshops and occasionally post tiktok videos (@dancymansi)
I’ve been dancing for as long as I can remember. It’s a huge part of my life and one of the things I am the most passionate about. Being in a music video is on the top of my bucket list of things to do in this life so this opportunity would be life changing. I don’t tend to see many people that look like me in music videos in the U.S. so being apart of this would be sick.
I would probably use part of it to pay back my parents/family for all they’ve given me over the years. If it weren’t for them, I would have not been able to develop the love for dance I have now. I would also donate part of it to a dance/arts related charity so that other kids/people who have similar passions but don’t have the means to support those passions can hopefully pursue some of those dreams with the money.
The search is on for eight dancers to be flown to a live judged event in Phoenix, AZ, showcasing their skills to Ciara and her choreographer, Jamaica Craft. One will be chosen to appear in her upcoming music video and win $20,000!
