I was taught versatility is a virtue in dance and in real life- causing me to use my training from praise dancing, miming, step and cheerleading altogether to form my own unique style, or, "swag". I use these skills to be tight and concise when I need to, but also flowy and free when need be as well. Inspirations such as Ciara, Beyonce, Usher, New Edition, and Michael Jackson taught me to mimic choreography with my own sense of style, but also knowing how to mimic bits of their style a
Being in Ciara's music video will blow my younger self's mind. This will show me that even when it didn't feel like it, the hard work and long nights without sleep was worth it. It would also encourage other people from my small town of Radcliff, Kentucky, that if you put God first, be kind to everyone, stay humble and chase your dreams, you can do anything you set your mind to. As stated before, uplifting others is a passion, and I would be honored to do so by dancing with a Hip-Hop icon!
With the $20,000, I plan to use that money to finish paying for my Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Louisville. After obtaining my degree, I plan to open a dance studio that offers counseling and dance classes as a form of therapy. Formal counseling and dancing have been a vital role in my life, and I want to provide a safe space for people to talk and sweat out their life problems. Dancing and uplifting people are my passions, so why not combine them!
The search is on for eight dancers to be flown to a live judged event in Phoenix, AZ, showcasing their skills to Ciara and her choreographer, Jamaica Craft. One will be chosen to appear in her upcoming music video and win $20,000!
