My dance style consists of a traditional Métis dance called The Red River jig. It’s an indigenous dance that has been danced in our communities for decades. It’s a dance style that was dying at one point. I learned when I was 4 years old from my grandma and fell in love with it. I then took up hip hop in High school and fell in love with it as well. I thought it would be a cool idea to fuse the two and BOOM. Fast Jigging footwork to Hip Hop music! The Hiphop Jig!!
It would be HUGE! I’ve been dancing since age 4 and I’ve been grinding for my big break. Also being a Canadian indigenous, I’d love to make my people proud. Also to show our youth that we can really do whatever we put our minds to. It really would be a dream come true.
My big goal with my dance style is to get in into the studios and have more people train in Jigging. I’d love to open a studio, offer classes for the indigenous youth and get more of our people dancing. Also, being able to have a place I can share my style with other dancers from our dance community would be huge.
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Entrepreneur of Impact, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
