Hip-hop is what brings me the most joy. I love the versatility of the style and the creative expression that it allows. My biggest dance inspiration is my dad. He used to breakdance on a cardboard box for money in the mall when he was a kid. Dancing is definitely in our blood.
It would allow me to begin a journey in dance that I thought I would never have. I’ve feared failure my whole life, and it is prevented me from chasing my real dreams of being a professional dancer. Even if I don’t win, even if no one ever reads this, putting myself out there for this has required more courage than I’ve ever had before.
My husband was born with fibular hemimelia which means he was born without a fibula in his right leg. Throughout his childhood other donors’ generosity covered his medical bills. He’s had a lifelong dream of sponsoring a child with his same medical condition. If I win the $20,000 we will use it to make his dreams come true.
The search is on for eight dancers to be flown to a live judged event in Phoenix, AZ, showcasing their skills to Ciara and her choreographer, Jamaica Craft. One will be chosen to appear in her upcoming music video and win $20,000!
