I’m a first gen, coming from a low income family. Full time student, kinder teacher, and dancer. I do it all. There is no limits to dreams.
Thank you for supporting me in this competition. Your donations and participation will benefit the Why Not You Foundation in their mission to fight poverty through education initiatives that empower youth to lead with a why not you attitude.
I started dancing when I was 5 years old at a non profit dance company called, Everybody Dance LA where I learned ballet, jazz, hip hop, and modern. I also trained under LADP. I danced at SMC where I did contemporary, and their global team where I learned folklore, cumbia, merengue, and salsa. I have now been in a competitive dance team called Snowtorious where I do Hip Hop. I’ve done many dance workshops with different artists such as Jonathan Sison & Tia Rivera.
I’ve worked at a middle school in south central where I’ve worked with students who have been displaced from their home, abandoned, in foster homes, suffered domestic violence or sexual assault. I worked with students who dreamed of doing what I do, which is to be able to dance. Being in Ciara’s video isn’t about me, it’s about the people. It’s about the influence on coming generations. I want this to show my students, there are no limits to your dreams.
With 20,000, I’d first give to my parents who have helped me along this journey every step of the way. Constantly supporting me in this dance journey and always helping me find more resources and always believing in me. I’d also start a non profit, in south central for children and families who don’t have the resources for dance. Because every child deserves a shot. I’d also give back to EveryBodyDanceLA because without them I wouldn’t be where I’m at today.
