My dance style consists of fierce jazz funk with traits of swaggy hiphop. Growing up my biggest inspirations were legends Kenny Ortega and Laurieann Gibson. Their passion to create and grow dancers into stars was always what i’ve dreamt of as a professional dancer. I use their performance techniques in my dancing every time I hit the stage and it has helped me more than ever.
Being in Ciara’s music video would impact my life because I would be able to take everything i’ve learned from the experience and give back to the next generation of dancers. I will show them that anything is possible when hard work is put in but also teach them dance etiquette skills to maintain opportunities as big as being in a music video with Ciara. Nothing would make me happier than knowing I can help prepare young dancers to achieve a dream like this.
When selected to win 20,000, I will invest in more studio/industry training within my hometown. Being from Detroit, MI, most dancers don’t have access to proper training or equipment to excel in rooms with professional artists. I know what it’s like to want more as a dancer but can’t have access to achieve more. I will do my best to provide as much support as I can for our dance community so they won’t know how that feels. The search is on for eight dancers to be flown to a live judged event in Phoenix, AZ, showcasing their skills to Ciara and her choreographer, Jamaica Craft. One will be chosen to appear in her upcoming music video and win $20,000!
