My dance style is born bred out the townships of South Africa, we dont have a specific style, you allow the music to move the part of your body it found connection in. We dance to Amapiano, kwaito, pantsula, and house music as a whole with our entire body, making ancestral vibrational moves like rolling your eyes, or stomping your feet. We allow our hips to tell a story and our facial expressions to explain the drama behind it. Inspired by childhood memories of family gatherings.
It would bring the biggest smile on the faces of the people who last saw me as a child/teenager! I turned 20 in America. It would make my now very old grandparents know I’m safe and sound and still making those around me feel whole because of the way I was raised. It would be a beautiful reminder that I still exert the same energy they instilled in me growing up. My family and friends would have proof that NKAnyezi is still following her name! My name means STAR (The light rays of a Star)
I’d be able to get my immigration paperwork sorted and paid for and officially get a travel document to see my family again after 10 years. I’m married to an African American with two beautiful kids who are yet to meet their family back in the motherland. Money and survival has been tough since I came to the usa in 2015, making my immigration process stall. So many things have changed back home and I long to be reunited again with my family.
