I am the next Dance Icon because I have the capacity to express all my emotions through captivating, powerful, and passionate dance moves.
Thank you for supporting me in this competition. Your donations and participation will benefit the Why Not You Foundation in their mission to fight poverty through education initiatives that empower youth to lead with a why not you attitude.
My dance style is a combination of hip hop and West African dance with a dash of modern. I love fusing these styles together because it allows for more fluid movements that feel natural for my body. My inspiration came from one of my college dance professors, Nzingha Camara (who recently passed away). She was a West African dance instructor and taking her classes brought everything together for me.
Being in Ciara’s music video would be like Jon Snow becoming the king of Westeros; it would mean the world. This opportunity would definitely make the little girl in me who heard “Goodies” drop on Power 106 when it was Big Boys Neighbor so proud and honored.
If I won the $20,000, I would use it to open a dance studio so that aspiring dancing would have a space to practice. I’ve always wanted to own my own space to create and collaborate with others. Dance is definitely a way to help heal your soul and I would love to share that with more people.
