My dance inspiration is deeply rooted in improvisation since I’ve always been a freestyler—I move based on what I feel and how the music speaks to me. I don’t necessarily fit into one specific genre or category, but my influences range from modern dance and ballet to majorette and baton twirling. Lately, I’ve been exploring different styles like Afro and hip-hop, making my approach a fusion of everything I’m capable of learning and incorporating into my movement.
I truly believe that the exposure from being part of this music video would give me the recognition I deserve as a dancer. As a self-taught dancer, an introvert, and someone who is deeply career-driven, this opportunity would be a once-in-a-lifetime chance to perform on a major stage. After months of recovery from an ACL tear, being away from dance has had a significant impact on me, and this experience would be the push I need to step back into my passion with confidence.
I would absolutely invest the prize money into opening my own dance studio, as I’m passionate about sharing my talents with the community and providing mentorship. Growing up in Detroit, I’ve seen the need for more community-driven initiatives that uplift both the youth and the city as a whole. This opportunity wouldn’t just be a personal victory—it would be a meaningful win for my entire community.
