Through my journey as a dance practitioner, I have immersed myself in jazz, contemporary, modern, and Bahamian folklore, ultimately cultivating Calypso Fusion—a dynamic and heartfelt dance style that blends Afro-Caribbean movement, contemporary flow, and funk jazz. Rooted in the rhythms of Bahamian folklore and enriched by the vibrancy of Cuban-contemporary traditions, Calypso Fusion celebrates connection and cultural storytelling.
Being in this music would fulfil everything I ever aspired. From I was a learning her music videos from the tv and dancing in my room. To make that become a reality is farfetch. An island girl making it to the big stage doesn’t come easy, finding our way and funds to do what we love definitely isn’t easy. We all sacrifice to do what we love and I can say I am one of them.
I will open my dance studio . On this island where I live in Canada there is not one dance school own by a black person. This is my goal a platform open to all but mainly targeting my community. For kids of colour to have a safe space to dance and express.
The search is on for eight dancers to be flown to a live judged event in Phoenix, AZ, showcasing their skills to Ciara and her choreographer, Jamaica Craft. One will be chosen to appear in her upcoming music video and win $20,000!
