My dance inspiration is 90's/00's hip-hop, Alvin Ailey, and The Prancing J-settes of Jackson State University. Crazy mix huh!
Being in Ciara's video is not about the money for me. Being in the video with one of my icons is major. Dancing mainstream has been a dream of mine since I was a kid but being told repeatedly that dance is for girls when dance keeps me safe, I can inspire and heal others with my talents. Ciara has always been someone different and stayed true to who she is. That inspired me to be ok being different, to go after my dreams and LEVEL UP!
With the $20,000, I would start and fund a dance program for young queer dancers, who have the dream to be, and a passion for dance. I was self-taught because I couldn't afford classes, and the social odds I faced in the community I grew up in. I want to be the person I needed as a kid growing up, for someone else. Our world must be loved on, let's do it through dance!
The search is on for eight dancers to be flown to a live judged event in Phoenix, AZ, showcasing their skills to Ciara and her choreographer, Jamaica Craft. One will be chosen to appear in her upcoming music video and win $20,000!
