I’m the next dance Icon because I am gifted in many forms of dance within the African diaspora. I bring diversity & unity through my art.
Thank you for supporting me in this competition. Your donations and participation will benefit the Why Not You Foundation in their mission to fight poverty through education initiatives that empower youth to lead with a why not you attitude.
My journey as a dancer from NYC began at age 4, training in Jazz, Ballet, and Traditional West African. I later fell in love with Samba, specifically Passista Style from Rio de Janeiro, and moved there to train and parade in Carnaval. I also embraced Gqom and Amapiano from South Africa, training with South African dancers. I now fuse Samba, Gqom, hip-hop, and dancehall, blending my social and cultural roots with global styles, creating a unique and vibrant dance expression.
Being in Ciara’s music video would transform my life. It would mean finally achieving my dream of bridging cultural gaps through dance. I grew up mimicking Ciara’s moves as a preteen in my mom’s living room, and her music shaped my passion for dance. Dancing alongside her, blending my love of African and Latin styles with the hip-hop we both grew up on, would be a dream come true. It would truly shake the room!
$20,000 would change my life! I’d secure an NYC apartment for my mom, brother, and me, giving us stability after struggling with housing since returning from Brazil. I’d also fund my nonprofit, which supports emerging artists in the NYC tri-state area, with plans to expand to Latin America and Africa. My goal is to create a digital and in-person network to provide dancers with resources and bridge the cultural gap I’ve always dreamed of.
