I am a black woman from New Orleans whose passion is to dance on Stilts. You won’t find anything else like it.
Thank you for supporting me in this competition. Your donations and participation will benefit the Why Not You Foundation in their mission to fight poverty through education initiatives that empower youth to lead with a why not you attitude.
My dance style, “Stilt-Dancing,” derives from Afro-Brazilian culture. Over time, I have incorporated elements of New Orleans second line and Mardi Gras culture, Las Vegas showgirl style, and, last but certainly not least, HIP-HOP culture. With a background primarily in ballet, contemporary, and hip-hop dance, my balance is extraordinary, making it possible for me to quickly acquire more stilt skills than ever.
Featuring stilt dancing in the music video would immediately draw attention due to its uniqueness, creating a ripple effect benefiting both Ciara and me. The opportunity to stilt dance in Ciara’s music video will help me create a powerful platform for popularizing my craft and growing the demand for stilt dancing. It’s a chance to elevate my craft and introduce stilt dancing to a global stage, inspiring creativity and appreciation through music, movement, and culture.
I would use the $20,000 to invest in my business and bring my vision to life. I’d design my own line of costumes that reflect my artistry, enhancing my performances. It would also help with branding and marketing to share my story to a wider audience.
