As a Black woman, I often feel silenced in spaces where my voice isn’t heard. Dance has become my way of speaking without words, allowing me to express my emotions, my thoughts, and my identity fully. Through movement, I can be loud, unapologetic, and powerful. It’s my form of communication, breaking barriers and amplifying my voice when society may try to silence me. Dance is where I truly feel seen and heard.
Being part of Ciara’s music video will be life-changing for me as a 24-year-old. It allows me to start my journey doing what I love, something I deeply value because we only get one life, and I want to live it on my own terms. This opportunity will inspire me to continue learning, growing, and pushing boundaries while also empowering and advocating for Black girls. It’s a chance to show that we belong in spaces like these and deserve to shine.
If I received $20,000, I would invest in myself as a dancer and creator by enrolling in advanced training programs and workshops to refine my skills. I’d also pay off my college debt to ease financial burdens. A significant portion would support early detection programs for breast cancer. My mom, now in remission, advocates for Black women and girls to seek genetic testing. This impacts me personally, as I carry the BRCA2 gene as well, and through testing, I can take control of my future.
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Entrepreneur of Impact, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
