As a dancer, I am open to all styles of dance. However, I favor hip-hop and contemporary/lyrical dance. My inspiration flows from whatever is taking place in my life and I pour my emotions into the moment to express how I feel to an audience or even in a room by myself. Dance has always been an outlet for me when I felt that I couldn't vocalize the emotions that I have felt in my life whether that has been anger, sadness from grief, even happiness. I take my emotions as my inspiration.
Being in Ciara's music video would impact my life because it would push me out of my comfort zone and also in the direction of my career path of wanting to be a professional dancer and choreographer. Having this opportunity would not only build my experience as a dancer but it would also put me in a space to learn and connect with other dancers around the world. It would be a dream come true to work with such an amazing artist while sharing passion for the things we both love.
If I were to be awarded the $20,000 I would help my mom with the cost of my college tuition. Being that she is a single mother who helps provide for my family and myself, by herself I think the $20,000 would be helpful in taking some of the weight off of her shoulders both financially and emotionally. It would also help put me at ease knowing that I was able to contribute to helping my mother out during my college process so she doesn't feel as if she is doing it all on her own.
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Entrepreneur of Impact, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
