My dance inspiration comes from history. Dance is deeply connected to storytelling and other arts, each influencing and being influenced in a continuous cycle. As the saying goes, "If we don’t know our history, we are bound to repeat it," which is the beauty of the innovation of dance. The diverse history of dance across cultures adds depth and complexity to the art, making it unique and special.
2024 was incredibly hard for me. I lost my best friend, Isaiah, to hate and gun violence. He was the 2024 National Golden Glove champion. Four years ago, he told me he wanted to be a boxer, and in three years, by God’s grace, he achieved one of boxing’s greatest feats. I promised Isaiah I would keep chasing my dream of dancing. That promise was also to myself. Being in Ciara’s music video would mean everything—it’s how I can tell Isaiah I kept my word.
I would donate some of the money to Isaiah’s two-year-old son for his education, some towards Isaiah’s business that will continue to feed his son, the rest would go toward laying the foundation for a dance studio in my hometown of Bowie, Maryland. Growing up in the DC Metropolitan Area, I always had to travel far to find a place to dance. As a STEM major, I understand how valuable the discipline and structure of a studio can be. I want to provide that same opportunity for young girl
